The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Oh Lord

The Brian Jonestown Massacre

Take It from the Man! is the third album by American neo-psychedelia band The Brian Jonestown Massacre. It is the first of three critically acclaimed albums released by the band in 1996, preceding Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request and Thank God for Mental Illness. It was another change of style for the band, with a large influence being 1960s garage rock, particularly the early work of The Rolling Stones.
All of the songs were written by Anton Newcombe except "Oh Lord", "B.S.A.", "Cabin Fever" and "In My Life", which were written by Matt Hollywood. It was produced by Larry Thrasher of Psychic TV.
"Dawn" was later re-recorded on the band's first and only album with TVT Records, Strung Out in Heaven.

Lyrics:

Oh Lord you know it ain't right,
To live my life this way
I gotta stay up every night and feel this feeling till it goes away

You know I had my crime
And I paid my dues
I've seen the best of times
I had the best of friends
I'm pretty all to do

But now I've seen the light
I'm gonna show it to you
You gotta lay right down
You gotta close your eyes
You'll never flow right though you

'Cause I, I believe in my soul
And I always wanna feel this way so honey let the good times roll

Oh baby all night long I've been sitting beer drinking
How come it took so long
For me to change my mind
Don't know what I was thinking

But now I've seen the light
I'm wanna keep it to you
You gotta lay right down
You gotta close your eyes
You gotta let me heal you

'Cause I, I believe in my soul
And I always wanna feel this way so honey let the good times roll
